The O'Neill Studio is a project of Playwrights Theater of New York.

We are an independent professional Studio that has partnered with New York University and Yale University since 1998.

In its first decade, O'Neill's plays inspired new work by Yale student and alumni playwrights. In that time, Yale alumni actors and celebrated guest artists have performed the O'Neill plays and the new work they have inspired. These performances have taken place at the NYU Provincetown Playhouse as part of our O'Neill Festival, in which we have staged O'Neill's first 17 works as part of a chronological series of his complete canon, 50 plays in all.

In its second decade, we are focusing on strengthen the work of our acting company through a emphasis on the unique art of acting O'Neill.

Eugene O'Neill is America's only Nobel Prize-winning playwright and winner of four Pulitzer Prizes. He is our premier American playwright. The O'Neill Studio seeks to cultivate a vocabulary for the challenges of acting in his plays as put forth in The Studio's Artistic Statement).

These challenges are the focus of The O'Neill Studio Forum for which Resident Artists are engaged to perform excerpts from his works for guest masters so as to generate relevent discussion. The Forums take place at The Players Club on Gramercy Park, where O'Neill one once a member.
